Day 72, Photo-a-Day

A male and female Common Goldeneye on the Fox River

  1. This is interesting. I came across a Goldeneye couple last weekend in Paulding MI. I got some great shots. Then this past weekend I was going across the Oregon Street bridge in Oshkosh and saw about six pair swimming in the river by Beckett's. And today you post this pic. Have never seen one and within two weeks I see them all over!

We have had them here in the Waukesha area for a couple weeks now. I had never seen them prior to this winter. They are a very interesting looking bird. Thanks for stopping by and commenting! I love hearing about what others are seeing out there.

    2. Until I got to this page, I thought Badger State of Mind was just a Facebook page. Very happy to see there is a book! I intend to order soon.

Fantastic! I'm so glad you found your way to the website! To be honest, ordering directly through me is the least expensive (and personal!) way to do it. Send me an email to badgerstateofmind@gmail.com if you'd like for me to send one to you! And welcome!

    4. Common Goldeneye are quite common in Wisconsin during the winter where there is open water. They're usually the last to arrive during migration and the first to leave. They love the cold.
